“Reagan Beach” is a humorous interpretation of Ronald Reagan’s victory in the presidential election of 1984. Walter Mondale, the Democratic candidate who opposed Reagan, and Geraldine A. Ferraro, Mondale’s vice presidential running mate, are portrayed as the meek pall bearers of the Democratic platform. Reagan won the election by such a large margin over Mondale that his victory could be seen as a triumphant bully, which is how I depict him. Adorned in red, white and blue, Reagan is the personification of the American political hero. In a narcissistic display of bravado, he marches over his defeated opponents and kicks sand in their faces along the way. Donald Trump could fit into a similar narrative after his recent victory over Hillary, the “nasty woman.”
